Kings Of Rap

I posted earlier about the first rap tape I ever got, Power Rap from 1986. I knew I had another tape from around that time, that I could not ever remember the name of. Well today I found it. Kings Of Rap from 1985.

The Fat Boys’ “Can You Feel It” and Whodini’s “Five Minutes Of Funk” left the biggest impression on me with their futuristic vibes, but Shawn Brown’s “Rappin’ Duke” was a classic, if not only for the fact that somewhere there is a video of my dad lip-syncing to it after hearing me play it so much.

Tracklisting:

1. Run DMC - Jam Master Jammin’

2. Fat Boys - Can You Feel It?

3. Roxanne with UTFO - The Real Roxanne

4. Gifted 4 - Sounds of the Mic

5. Sugar Kay and the Mighty Three - Rock On

6. UTFO - Roxanne, Roxanne

7. Whodini - Five Minutes Of Funk

8. Fat Boys - Fat Boys

9. Shawn Brown - Rappin’ Duke

10. Divine Sounds - How Fast Money Goes

I wish someone had edited this Fat Boys video to show more footage of them rapping from a sea plane, it reminds me of me and my homies at Lake Tahoe last summer:

The Fat Boys - New Music - More Music Videos

The first rap tape I ever owned

My dad gave me this tape for christmas in 1990.  This isn’t the full track list, I am trying to track that down.  I remember it had Whodini “5 Minutes of Funk”.  I still regret the day when I was really angry over something and pulled all the tape out of the cassette all over my room.
