Top 10 of 2008
Top 10’s are always hard, that’s why I never do them. I’m not going to make any excuses for what didn’t make the cut. Here are ten songs that got me through this year in a major way.
1. The Bug featuring Killa P and Flow Dan - Skeng
2. Scuba - A Mutual Antipathy (Jamie Vex’d Remix)
3. Mavado featuring Jay-Z - On The Rock
4. Erykah Badu - The Healer
5. Saigon - Believe It
6. Lil Wayne featuring Kanye West - Lollipop (Remix)
7. Joker - Snake Eater
8. J-Todd - 00antiskit00
9. Eric Lau featuring Guilty Simpson - The D (Harmonic 313 Remix)
10. Young Jeezy featuring Kanye West - I Put On

Kings Of Rap
I posted earlier about the first rap tape I ever got, Power Rap from 1986. I knew I had another tape from around that time, that I could not ever remember the name of. Well today I found it. Kings Of Rap from 1985.
The Fat Boys’ “Can You Feel It” and Whodini’s “Five Minutes Of Funk” left the biggest impression on me with their futuristic vibes, but Shawn Brown’s “Rappin’ Duke” was a classic, if not only for the fact that somewhere there is a video of my dad lip-syncing to it after hearing me play it so much.
Tracklisting:
1. Run DMC - Jam Master Jammin’
2. Fat Boys - Can You Feel It?
3. Roxanne with UTFO - The Real Roxanne
4. Gifted 4 - Sounds of the Mic
5. Sugar Kay and the Mighty Three - Rock On
6. UTFO - Roxanne, Roxanne
7. Whodini - Five Minutes Of Funk
8. Fat Boys - Fat Boys
9. Shawn Brown - Rappin’ Duke
10. Divine Sounds - How Fast Money Goes
I wish someone had edited this Fat Boys video to show more footage of them rapping from a sea plane, it reminds me of me and my homies at Lake Tahoe last summer:

It’s a strange world: SMule Ocarina for iPhone
What we have here is a man playing the theme song from Nintendo’s 1987 The Legend of Zelda on a computerized, pocket-sized telephone that is simulating a 12,000 year old flute-like ceramic wind instrument that was introduced to Europe by the Aztecs.

The first rap tape I ever owned
My dad gave me this tape for christmas in 1990. This isn’t the full track list, I am trying to track that down. I remember it had Whodini “5 Minutes of Funk”. I still regret the day when I was really angry over something and pulled all the tape out of the cassette all over my room.
